The Dead of Night

$180.00

The Pink lyrics from the song, Walk me Home, make up the base layer of this piece. Layers of acrylic paint were added first and then collage pieces were added to create the petals of the flowers. The solid collage pieces were created from painted recipe pages from a Southern Living Cookbook from 1997 that I purchased at a thrift store in Florida for $1. Each petal was cut and attached by hand. Leaves are made up of multiple shades of green because leaves should not be boring. The dark navy blue colored background makes the flowers pop, as well as the use of a metallic gold pen for accents. White dots with black polka dots also dot the background to keep things playful.

The dark background continues onto the outside edges of the canvas. Two sides of the painting have the name, the dead of night, written in gold script and the other two sides feature my signature. The painting has been finished off with high gloss varnish to keep it safe and looking youthful for years to come.

I tried and I asked opinions of everyone that I know but I could not decide which direction I wanted this painting to go. So, I’ve included a sawtooth hanger and screws so that you can attach the hanger yourself and choose how you want to display it!

This painting measures 20”x24” with a 1.5” gusset.
